In Virtual Universe (VUniverse) you can invest cryptocurrency (ethereum) to buy in-game assets, like houses or regular items. You can also take up jobs that will reward you cryptocurrency for your spent time. This is kind of a Ready Player One VR world in the making and I think the concept is awesome! Virtual Universe is currently using ICO to raise money for their application. Right now, they aren’t very far yet in development.
