How To Mod Blade And Sorcery on Oculus Quest 2 EASY (& Update to U11.1)
How to switch Blade & Sorcery Nomad to the U11.1 beta on Quest 2, download mods from Nexus Mods and copy them to your headset so they work in game.
I wanted to install mods for Blade & Sorcery because it looks so fun. Then I noticed none of my mods worked, because I wasn’t on the right game version. You have to manually switch on the big Update 11, which was still in beta on Quest 2 when I made this video, even though it had been out for a few weeks. Since I had to figure that out, here’s how to update the game and how to mod Blade and Sorcery on Quest 2 in two easy steps. It’s worth it. (Polyarc sponsored this video. That paid for our time, not for the guide.)
A word from the sponsor: Moss
Moss is one of the best-rated VR games for a reason. You help an adorable little adventurer save her realm. You control her with normal action buttons through platforming, light combat and puzzles, while using your hands to move things in the world, which takes some dexterity. It makes great use of VR: you can lean in and peek around corners to find clues, or just admire the beautiful fantasy world. What’s truly special is the emotional bond you build with her. I actually felt sad when I did something stupid and let her drown. It may look easy, but I finished it, and a flat video doesn’t do it justice. Moss: Book II is now on Quest 2, with improvements over the PSVR version.
What you need
- A PC or laptop. It doesn’t need to be a gaming PC.
- A USB cable that supports data transfer. The one from the Quest 2 box works.
- Blade & Sorcery: Nomad, bought and installed on your Quest 2.
Step 1: update Blade & Sorcery to U11.1
Skip this if you’re already on the right version.
- Open the Oculus app on your phone and tap Search.
- Find Blade & Sorcery: Nomad, open it, and scroll down to Additional details. Your version is listed there.
- If you’re still on version 10, tap it, open the drop-down on the right and pick beta 0.11.1. That was the latest version when I made this video. If you’re watching later, check the mods website to see which version you need: mods usually say it in their titles.
- The update shows up on your Quest 2 almost straight away. Put on your headset, find the game and click Install update.
Step 2: how to mod Blade and Sorcery on Quest 2
While the update installs, get your mods ready on your PC.
- In your browser, go to Nexus Mods for Blade & Sorcery: Nomad. That page lists all mods for the Quest 2 version.
- Log in or register in the top right corner. You can’t download without an account.
- Find a mod. There were already 64 pages of them. If you don’t know where to start, try the Popular tab.
- Open the mod and click Manual download, then Slow download if you don’t pay for Premium.
- You get a zip file in your Downloads folder. Right-click it and choose Extract All.
- Connect your Quest 2 to your PC with the USB cable, put on the headset and click Allow on the data access pop-up.
- On your PC, open the Quest 2 folder. If it doesn’t open by itself, find it under This PC in File Explorer.
- Go to Internal shared storage, then Android, then data, then the Blade & Sorcery folder (it starts with com.warpfrog), then files.
- If there’s no Mods folder there yet, create one: right-click, More options, New folder, and name it Mods. Keep it open.
- Open the folder you extracted and double-click into it to check there’s no extra folder inside the folder, because that can cause problems. You’re good when you see the mod files directly.
- Copy the mod’s folder (the folder, not the loose files) and paste it into the Mods folder.
Turn the mods on in game
That’s it. When you start the game, the mods are active. Most of them, like weapon mods, show up in the spawn book.
If one of your mods doesn’t show up, check its description for requirements. Sometimes a mod needs another mod to work. Copy those into the Mods folder the same way.
Worth the effort
It takes a few minutes and one beta switch, and then Blade & Sorcery opens up so many more things to explore. I love it. If you have favourite mods everyone should try, share them, because tips help everyone. You can get the game on the Meta Quest store.
